Jewel Tone Persian Wedding at Maybourne Hotel Beverly Hills
Wedding in Los Angeles
Evan & Nikki
A Message from the Bride
Describe your experience with wedding planning: Planning a wedding honoring two ceremonies, for hundreds of people in less than six months was a whirlwind. There is no amount of enthusiasm that can prepare you for the amount of detail that needs to be accounted for in order for an event of this magnitude to take place!
We immediately fell in love with the Montage Hotel's ballroom, which is now known as the Maybourne. After seeing several hotels in Newport Beach and Beverly Hills, we knew we had found the place we would get married. The venue we picked truly captured us with its high ceilings, central location, the intimate size of the hotel were all features that appealed to us.
Rene Zadori, our photographer, was great to work with. He was open to our suggestions and ideas, and offered his own expertise to capture the perfect moments throughout the day. Our floral designer, Eddie Zaratsian, delivered on our vision for the wedding ballroom. In fact, he made her two different bouquets to hold during each ceremony, on his own volition. We really appreciated his artistic vision and his ability to understand what she was envisioning.
It was almost so beyond special being able to walk down the aisle with her grandmother's locket attached to her bouquet.
Terry Ajdar, the sofreh designer is an incredible pleasure to work with, and is very talented and patient. Our planner Kat Minassi worked very hard and diligently to execute our vision and help bring it to life.
Our advice to the brides-to-be is to not be shy about expressing whether you like something or not, and to voice your thoughts and concerns early on. It's important to have honest discussions with your vendors.
How did you meet? It was incredible that two people from different cultures and backgrounds could have so much in common and almost immediately feel a strong connection. Their first date was in the summer time at Petite Trois.
For Nikki, she quickly realized that there was something very unique and special about Evan.
Evan was almost immediately smitten, and one date led to another, until he asked her to be his girlfriend outside of a coffee shop in West Hollywood, and the rest is history.
Describe the moment he proposed: It was a hot summer day, and it was pure magic. The night before the proposal, we had made plans to take part in an escape room.
Once the final clue was solved, Evan got down on one knee and presented Nikki with the ring (and 4 dozen roses), and asked her to be his wife in Farsi. She said yes. When Nikki exited the room, she was over the moon and thrilled to see that Evan had planned for their families, some from out of town, to be present right after the proposal to celebrate the joyous occasion.
We had two ceremonies to honor both of our families, and it was everything we dreamed it would be.
What are your favorite moments of your wedding day? For the bride it was definitely hearing her groom giving his vows in Farsi during the Persian ceremony.
She also loved being able to wake up to her sister, mother and aunt being in the room with her to begin the day together.
The Persian ceremony took place just before sundown at the Montage Hotel. We had a beautiful sofreh, filled with symbols of a long, fruitful and happy life together. Evan moved the crowd by giving his vows in Farsi.
Every detail about the day was straight out of a dream, we are so thankful for all the love surrounding us.
For the groom, one of his favorite moments on our wedding day was seeing his bride walk down the aisle at the same church his parents shared their vows almost 40 years earlier.
Our first look at the Church was so special for us, our ceremonies were incredibly memorable.
You can see from the smiles on our faces, how incredibly happy we were - what a day it was!
Wedding Reception Design Theme: We wanted to have a very winter romantic feel to the wedding. It was important to the bride that her color palette of blushes and burgundies be incorporated throughout the room.
The bride also wanted the presence of candles throughout the room to set a warm and romantic mood.
Wedding Reception Design Inspiration: The bride loved the juxtaposition of the bold burgundy peonies against the soft blush color flowers (creating a romantic and warm feel to the room), alongside candles to create an intimate feel.
The bride was looking for movement and flow within the room. This meant that she wanted centerpieces that were of varying sizes and designs. She worked with Eddie in creating her vision. Eddie was able to read exactly what she wanted, and brought her vision to life.
We had a couple of over-sized candelabras flowing and dripping with flowers which were surrounded by several varieties of centerpieces, some more structured while others featured flowers that flowed and draped.
The bride was adamant about creating a clean canvas for the room so she had the floor re-carpeted all white, the dance floor white, and the walls all draped in blush.
The draping and the linens were all the same color blush and were complimented by the gold chairs. In order to create a unique looking room, square and rectangle tables were employed.
Where the bride and groom were slated to sit, the bride wanted a very unique and grand head table piece. Eddie created a very romantic piece with gold leaves, featuring burgundy peonies and roses that tied the whole room together.
