A Message From The Bride
Describe your experience with wedding planning: We had a year and a half to plan, so we took a lot of breaks in between, which was really important and we took things step by step to avoid getting overwhelmed.
Our parents also really helped us out throughout the entire wedding process, which was a huge advantage. We loved having them so involved!
How did you meet?: We first met in our freshman year of high school and began dating in our senior year.
Describe the moment he proposed: We had planned a trip to Napa to attend a party (that he had made up) and he proposed in front of a winery that we had been planning to visit for a long time.
He recorded the entire proposal on his camera, without me knowing, along with our whole day together, so we have a video to remember this monumental time in our lives.
Sweet Armenian Traditions: Before the bride wears her veil, the maid of honor circles the veil around the bride’s head for good luck. Following this tradition, the closest male member from the bride’s family, commonly the brother or an immediate family member, completes her look by putting on her shoes.
We had a 22 person bridal party which made our whole day so much more fun from beginning to end, and I would not have it any other way!
A fun fact about us…we got married after being together for almost 12 years.
Wedding Planning Advice: Take your time and think things through - everything might feel like it should be rushed, but it's such a huge day, so you should be happy about each of your decisions.
What are your favorite moments of your wedding day?: That’s hard to say because every minute of the day was so exciting!
Our Wedding Reception was the perfect combination of classic white florals and details that helped everything look very clean and modern.
The floral design for this gorgeous wedding reception at Taglyan Complex was done by Petals LA, and the wedding was coordinated by Laurel Events. Their classic yet modern wedding cake was made by Cake Studio LA.
One of my favorite parts of the wedding was walking into our reception during our grand entrance, surrounded by our family and friends, all ready to dance the night away!
Something that helped with wedding planning was that we followed our favorite vendors for inspiration, and kept everything very organized so it was easy to reference when planning every detail of our wedding.
“Originally, the father-daughter dance came before the first dance as a part of him giving her away - the father would demand a final dance before giving his daughter to her new man. Then the bride and groom would have their first dance. Today, however, the newly married couple more typically shares the first dance, followed by father-daughter and mother-son dances.” - Brides Magazine
“It used to be only the bride who cut the wedding cake. Today, both partners share in the cake-cutting ritual. Family, friends and photographers alike look forward to the moment the couple joins hands around the cake knife and cuts the first slice.” - The Knot
We looked forward to our reception because we could finally let go, not have to worry about anything and be able to just enjoy every moment!
